Minnesota's State Flower: the Lady Slipper. An unusual wild orchid tied to legends and lore of bravery and courage and the Native People of the land.
All pottery is hand-thrown. Individually decorated and glazed. Surface design is painted in reverse with velvet underglaze, transferred to a leather hard mug that has a base slip color. Designs are then subtracted from the surface with various tools, carving away to enhance the painting & showcase the raw clay.
